THE CHERNOBYL LEGACY: Their lives were over before it had even begunLennel shared this with me today, thought I'd share it with you guys. It's a photoessay that's beautifully done by a professional depicting the aftermath of the Chernobyl disaster, focusing on the children that were affected. (WARNING: Pictures depicted may be deemed disturbing to some. But in my opinion, it's fine. It's more saddening than anything) It would be a good, timely reminder of how we are often so engrossed with the seemingly important issues with life like education, material wealth and the pursuit of various ideals that we often become so disillusioned and upset when small, little things do not go our way.
This photo essay will speak more to us that anything I can think of right now I believe. Listen to the commentary by the creator (Paul Fusco, I'm assuming he narrated as well), he provides really fascinating and moving commentary along with the pretty well taken photos. Bear in mind these were children who were hit by the biological and radiological harm of the disaster at an age where they could hardly even discern the event in itself. They grew up to face the consequences and experience life in a way that was not meant to be, a life that could have promised just as much as the ones you and I have. Have a really insightful time!
Photo essay may take time to load, press play to begin. You should hear an informative narration accompanying a long series of monochrome photos. Click the picture to enter.

"We are all humans: some fair, others dark; some ebony haired, others blonde; some have blue eyes, others have brown eyes... So, why do you get the chance to live a life...and I don't?"

Unfortunately, the footage of the actual entering and escape act of the peacock was not captured on film. Still, the thrilling moments leading up to it has provided us with entertaining and hilarious footage, safe in the knowledge that the peacock was ultimately unharmed. Enjoy the footage and have a great Wednesday ahead!
(Due to inevitable format conversion problems changing the file from handphone 3gp format to a more universal shockwave flash format, the admittedly hilarious audio could not be brought to you all. Apologies!)
